Imitation Game

I finally went to see the long awaited Immitation Game.

Based on the real life story of legendary cryptanalyst Alan Turing, the film portrays the nail-biting race against time by Turing and his brilliant team of code-breakers at Britain's top-secret Government Code and Cypher School at Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II. source IMDB

OK, I will admit, normally I'd probably skip that kind of film, I'm not really into war films, and yes, the main reason I watched it was Benedict. But hey, nothing wrong with that, right?

A very powerful performance from Benedict but that's to be expected. The film was not as heavy or serious as I'd thought it would be. Few jokes here and there, but also heart breaking in places. Turing on paper looks like a rather unlikeable character- arrogant, anti-social and a bit out of this world but Cumberbatch somehow makes him likeable despite all of this. He is quirky which was a cause of quite a few laughs, especially how he delivered a joke. All in all, a very enjoyable experience that leads to highly emotional climax.

Question is, will Benedict win an Oscar for this? Possibly.
