Merry Christmas my dear readers
I hope you had a great day. Where I come from, Christmas Eve's dinner is the main dinner rather than on Christmas day. We spent it at my SO's parents just like every year since I moved to UK. I've prepared a few dishes myself which went down with the family very well.
I've got some cash from my lovely grandma so I can buy perfume that I wanted, brilliant, got some DVDs, chocolates, snuggie, a lovely bird cage type candle holder, some lovely cosmetics from Lush, A CD for learning Spanish, more candles & wine.
My dad also sent me a DVD with my favourite Sherlock episode (Scandal in Belgravia) with Lithuanian dubbing. So I watched it while eating my Christmas breakfast (leftover cake). It was indeed hilarious. They translated "it stinks" instead of "it stings". Lots of stuff translated without taking context into consideration or just plain wrong. OK, some things are really hard to translate, jokes especially, but in this case it was mostly poor translation (who did they hire, someone who hasn't even finished high school?).
Anyway, the whole scene was translated very poorly, especially when Sherlock"s doing his "because I took your pulse, elevated, pupils dilated". The show lost half of it's charm, to really appreciate it you need to watch it in original or you need a good translator. It's not only the shows that are translated poorly, books as well. Some of the poor translation comes from not knowing British English. Fish&chips becomes fish & crisps which confused me so much, I thought why would one eat fish with crisps?
On a totally different topic, I was hoping I would have some nice Christmas pictures made with Lumix 20mm pancake less that I bought from Argos outlet on Ebay but they fucked up the order, just refunded my money without any notification, I complained to Ebay of course & they said Argos breached their seller policy & will action this but I'm not getting that lens, unfortunately. I will be purchasing it from Amazon, obviously a lot higher price, but I'll be able to get £50 cashback from Panasonic.
Until my next post, my chums

I found some pictures of my SO taken a few years ago by his cousin (I think)
I do love his hair, it's not like that any more, even though it's the same length, it's not as curly- Monday, December 17, 2012

As we finished early, I decided to go to Oxford street hoping to find some Christmas presents. I found exactly what my mother wanted, browsed some shops not looking for anything in particular, tried to find my friends who works in one of the shops, but by the time I found which one it was too late but we're planning to meet during the holidays as I will have many days off.
and unfortunately did not bump into Cumby.

I had a day off yesterday, the first half I spent in town centre looking for Christmas presents, I hoped it's going to be less hectic than on weekends, at first it was, but, boy, by 12 o'clock the place was crazy & I was getting frustrated, so I gave up & went home. I should really just buy everything online & avoid the crowds & the queues. But that only works if I actually know what I want to buy...
Later that day I went to Little Christmas, a Christmas event in my town, mostly because of reindeer.
It was so cold, we didn't stay there for very long & headed to our favourite restaurant for a nice dinner & warmth.
It's all about Christmas now. Next week I'm supposed to go a regional meeting, fancy dress required. So far, I've only got an elf hat. is that enough?no? shite...

Lately I've been trying to eat healthier, no more (well almost) shop bought sandwiches for me, I cook myself something for lunch almost every day now & I'm trying to eat more vegetables & fruits. It's a lot easier now when I'm receiving a box of fresh, locally grown, organic vegetables. Every box is different and I never know what I am going to get which I love! I will take a picture of my next box so you can see how amazing it looks.
Anyway, the latest box presented me with a challenge- a big bunch of celery. I hate celery & now I have to find a good recipe where the flavour of celery wouldn't be very strong. I think it should be some kind of soup.
Now I also need to start exercising again,we've got exercise bike which lately has been gathering dust & I've got a very good exercise programme "PC Fitness - Your Personal Trainer" which is pretty good,I've just fallen out of habit.
Christmas might ruin it my plans though. mhhmmh Christmas..
To further motivate myself to eat healthier, I re-read "Skinny Bitch", it's a very good kick-in-the-ass kind of book, but should be taken with a pinch of salt. I'm considering to become part-time vegan, I need to find some nice alternatives to dairy (ain't going to be easy...). Dairy is not as good as we often are led to believe & one of the reasons I want to reduce my dairy intake is that research has linked dairy to acne which I have despite my "advanced" age.
Christmas might ruin it my plans though. mhhmmh Christmas..

I'm bringing back "From the Archives" feature, especially now when I'm not taking much pictures at all. These are from my trip to Saint Petersburg, Russia some years ago.

I hate winter, it's first time I'm working regular hours so I hardly see any daylight, at best I get 20 min of daylight on a weekday (getting to work +getting a sandwich during my lunch break), it's already dark when I leave work. It's depressing, I have no energy in the evening, it might be 5pm but it feels like 10pm. It's quite a change from summer, when I used to finish work still full of energy & went out with friends every day,now I come back from work, I get in to my pyjamas & browse reddit until there are no blue links.
I might have a mild case of SAD. as I quite clearly can see a link between amount of sunlight I get & my mood.
On a totally unrelated note, what's up with all the adverts voiced by Cumberbatch? He's everywhere, I discover a new advert almost every day. My SO is impressed with my ability to recognise his voice even though I usually zone out when the adverts are on. Well, it's rather easy to spot his adverts when it's probably the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. I wish he would actually appear on those adverts, that would give us a reason to watch them.
talking of Cumberbatch... I've just applied for a chance to be in the audience for Cabin Pressure recording. Just thinking of this makes me super excited. *faints...

My SO has recently started coaching under 14s basketball team & today I went to see them in action!
The club was established by my SO's cousin, I think it's great that they are trying to teach children to play basketball, it's not very popular in UK, which still surprises me.I come from a country where basketball is a religion, &sadly my adopted country doesn't care much about it. Most of the children that come to this club have never played basketball or even watched a game before so it's quite a challenge to train them from scratch. It's rather funny when parents don't know rules at all and in turn find it hard to follow. Anyway, it was a great fun and Lions, my SO's team have won 100:72, which is quite impressive result! It's their second win this season.
I'm going to start helping the club, mainly in admin stuff & raising funds, will be something to add to my CV & I love getting involved in something like this.
