My newly developed interest in tall, badass, viking vampire led me to watching "What Maizie Knew"
Also, once somebody will get around doing a film about Edward Snowden, the whistle-blower, not a traitor, Alexander would be perfect for the role. Doesn't he look a lot like him?
It's a lovely film and I wish it was a bit longer!I loved Alexander's character, he reminded me Eric when he had amnesia- such a sweet guy.

Good things happening. Firstly, for the first time since I moved to UK, we are having proper summer weather. It's been very nice even though it's too hot to sleep comfortably. Hardly any houses have air con here. We're quite lucky to have it in our office.
Secondly, I got a another nomination at work. A whole team was nominated for helping out to do company event. I helped setting things up and took pictures whole day. I think it's nice to receive some recognition. Technically, it's third time I've been nominated this year. Great! Though I only got two rewards because they merged my first two nominations. It's OK though, I got now an extra day off.
Thirdly, my manager is finally back from leave, I'm so glad she did, it's been very hard without her, atmosphere in the office has been at its lowest, but now she's back, things will change.

The other day me and my work friends went S. house because her parents were away and because she has a huge house and garden. It was kind of Mexican food night with mojitos and Pimms.
It was a lovely and warm evening. We've been having such a nice weather the past couple of weeks. British call it heatwave, I call it summer.

Yesterday one of my wishes came true- Benedict Cumberbatch appeared on Top Gear.
It was quite funny interview as usual although too bad it was so
short, I read a description of full interview by someone who was there, it seems they have cut out some interesting stuff and also it kinda ruined continuity of interview for me, car jacking part seemed to be out of place.

The other day I was invited to my friend's parents' 40th wedding anniversary (her parents are much older than mine who celebrated their 26th this year). It was good opportunity to experience a truly British tea party hanging out with posh people. I'm not used to social mingling, especially when some people that I met, were very rich and seem to live in a very different world from us ordinary people.

I guess summer is finally here, too bad it was one week late for me to enjoy whilst I was off from work. I had a decent weekend though. I spent my Saturday on the seafront with a friend. It was a fun day that we finished with mojitos. Sunday was an interesting day, I had to take pictures for my company's event ( I don't get paid for it though). It was quite fun, I met a local MP and mayor. I swear I will shoot in raw from now on, I loved the results.
Coming back to work after a holiday is not easy, Monday was OK but today it was pretty awful, I'm exhausted. There is so much backlog and too much drama in the office. My manager is off for a while, so that makes things even worse.
I didn't get into graduate scheme, I reached the final stage but didn't get through it. It's very disappointing,I spent so much time for this, it was a very long process, but it wasn't my dream job or anything so I guess it's not that bad. So I'm looking out for job adverts again, nothing interesting or relevant comes up. I could easily get similar job to what I'm doing now, but I'm looking for something degree related or graduate level, I'm tired of being under-employed. I'd probably could get a lot better job back home (connections +experience working abroad) but pay would be poor and quality of life significantly lower, I couldn't afford holidays or anything like that. Besides, I don't want to come back. Ever. If I ever move from UK, I'll move to a country with better weather, I'm quite satisfied with my life here, there are only two downsides: weather ,as I already said, and lack of job opportunities.
I'm thinking of going to Germany to visit my family, but this time I'd like to take my SO with me, would be much more fun.

I may be back from Mallorca, but I haven't got back to work yet, I have a full week off which I spent at home. It was nice to be able to do nothing much, I haven't had time for ages. I started reading True Blood book series by C.Harris, I have read 5 so far. Although the books are quite entertaining I do prefer the series. I think they handle the stories better, that's just my opinion.
On Sunday I'm going to a community event my company is holding and I'll be taking pictures. I'm surprised I've been offered to do it but I'm sure it will be a good experience. So I only have one day to learn how to take decent pictures, yikes!
Monday is the day I come back to work and I'm already dreading, I know from my colleague that it's terribly busy and quite stressful, not the best time to come back.
I already miss Alcudia, well the beach really. Such a relaxation when you can go to the beach to enjoy the sun and warm sea right after your breakfast and you don't have children.

More on my holiday in Mallorca.
We stayed at this 3 star hotel which can't be compared to also 3 star hotel that we stayed at in Barcelona (it was very good), we had half board meal plan, breakfast was good but I'm not a breakfast person, so for me it was not that important. Dinner was a different thing. Me and my SO are both vegetarians, so we knew it will be tricky but reviews on trip advisor said that the choice of veggie food was good. I beg to differ. Most days we ate salad with chips (French fries). We got bored of this very soon. They had a great selection of deserts. Most of them there with jelly, so again we weren't spoiled for choice.
We found a nice restaurant on the beach called Playero where we had lunch several times.Pizza was very nice and they had wonderful milkshakes. It was a very relaxing atmosphere, I wish we had restaurant like that on our beach!
We had a few evening walks by the seafront, enjoying cooler temperature yet it was warm enough to wear a summer dress which never happens in UK.
I took my 20mm F/1.7 lens out, I didn't have a tripod, but the pictures are quite decent considering it was night time! That's one of the reasons I bought this lens.
What I loved how safe I felt there, al streets were lit and there are so many people around too.
On our last day we went to Alcudia itself. At first we thought to take a bus, however, it was full and only took one person on board, there were around 10 people left disappointed who stayed to wait for the next bus which was probably pretty full too. Instead of waiting for the bus, we decided to walk, I had downloaded map of Ballearic Islands on my phone in advance just in case thought not that we needed much, it was pretty straightforward, it took us under half an hour to get there, if it wasn't hot, maybe it would have taken even less time.
First thing we did, went to ruins of Pollentia, Roman city. Archaeologists are still working on the site, don't know how can they possibly work midday in Summer, it was incredibly hot. We paid 2 euros to enter, it was quite interesting to see the ruins, especially the amphitheater but if you are pressed for time ,I'd skip it, its not that impressive.
Afterwards, we went to the old town which is just across the street, it has a medieval town wall, you can step up on the wall and follow it almost all around the old town.
We wandered around the town, in the maze of medieval streets.
There were plenty of shops and restaurants.
Sunset in the Palma airport just before take off
Summary: I loved the beach, sun and the tan (I've never been this brown in my life!!), bit disappointed with the hotel, overall worth the trouble.
