Aaah weekends. I love weekends. Saturday morning started with a delivery of locally grown vegetables.
The weather was a bit better than usual, me and some friends went to the harbour. We had coffee with cake, the service was a tad disappointing but oh well, that cake was quite nice. We then burned these extra calories by having a good walk around the harbour and rich people houses. Some were really lovely, but I can only imagine how much they cost. We managed to get lost but we found our way back eventually.
Sunday hasn't been very productive, originally we planned a walk on a seafront and maybe a visit to a coffee place but the weather wasn't nice as promised so we didn't bother. Monday, of course, will be much nicer, but I'll be stuck in the office. I'm counting days left till I'm off already, it's 5! I'll then have a week off and a trip to Lithuania. I was there just 2 weeks ago but under very unpleasant circumstances, so while I'm glad to get away, I'n not overly excited. It will be nice to spend some time with my grandmothers and binge eat Lithuanian food.

I'm in a much better mood today, I've crossed many items from my to do list at work today and I don't have any backlog from last week when I was away.
I like my today's work outfit. All grown up and all.
I would love to do more outfit pictures but I haven't got a decent spot in my flat for those kind of pictures.

You ever see those people in school or college that are always deep in a book? It’s not so much that they love reading. It’s because when you’re on your own it’s too embarrassing to be sitting and not doing anything.
My Mad Fat Diary Series 2 finale is on today. I enjoyed series 2 just as much as series 1. How many times did I feel like shouting "Rae, don't do that, Rae that's just bloody stupid". But you know there is a bit Rae in all of us.
The soundtrack is brilliant to, you can find episode playlists here.

I always take a book on any trips as there is always a lot of waiting around and I don't want to waste my time like that. On my trip to Lithuania this Monday, I brought with me Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.
After years of hearing people refer to Brave New World, often compared to 1984, which I love, I decided to read it myself and find out just what all the commotion was about. I liked this book but I felt a tiny bit disappointed. Although the book brings up questions regarding totalitarianism, and freedom of thought, there is hardly any plot and is used as a vehicle to describe the world and the philosophy of the new society and it was hard to relate to the characters, however it still absolutely worth reading.

Hi all
Sorry I haven't been blogging for a while, I had to go to Lithuania unexpectedly. My grandfather passed away suddenly and I couldn't not go to the funeral. It was expensive and very tiresome trip but I'm glad I was there. My grandmother was worried nobody would come as majority of the family live abroad, but pretty much everyone came.
I really don't feel like talking about it just yet and it might take a while. I guess I just need to keep calm and carry on.

I haven't been posting as much this week, I've been away a lot and been ill the whole weekend- not so much fun and yes I'm still going to work tomorrow, it's not bad enough to take call in sick.
This week I'm reading The Sorrows of Young Werther by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. More accurately, I'm rereading it, I had to read it for literature classes but that seems to be have been ages ago and I don't remember much about it except that it definitely struck a nerve with me at that time unlike other books that we were assigned to read.
On its publication in 1774, The Sorrows of Young Werther gained an instant cult following. European readers were captivated by the rapturous ruminations of Werther, Goethe's typically Romantic protagonist whose extreme passion leads to self-destruction. Public fascination gave rise to a fanatical copycat culture, in which men dressed in Werther's signature outfit, women wore "Eau de Werther", and at least one person committed suicide with a copy of Young Werther in her pocket. The sensational novella united people in self-obsession and a desire for a sublime sense of individuality.

My perfect Sunday usually constitutes of a nice sleep and watching a good film or binge watching a show till early afternoon with my SO. This Sunday this wasn't an option. The weather was too lovely to be sitting at home, me and my friend went to explore a place on South Downs we have never been.
We were just a few miles way from Alfriston so we decided to visit it too. I have never been there before. It is tiny and there were many cars on the main road which is really narrow.
We spotted a tea house with a garden so we popped in before everything closed down. It had a bit of Alice in Wonderland feeling. We ordered cream tea but they ran out of cream so we just had with butter and jam. It was all right. Lovely vintage china and teapot. I thought presentation could not match that of Neate's cakery in Eastbourne, far from it. Too bad I don't have a decent picture of it.
I quite like idea of having a mismatched set of vintage china, we're planning to go to boot fairs, we might find some there, if not, charity shops it is!The day was warmest this year and it was glorious. I hope spring won't turn its back.

I'm a day late with this post,do forgive me! I had different priorities yesterday, the sun was out and I was enjoying myself very much, I'll post about this later.
Back to the subject, I'll be honest, I chose Serious Men by Manu Joseph judging it by its cover: described as smart and funny; and "genius is relative" - right up my street.
It has been described as "razor-sharp wit and archly comic observations combine in this seriously unputdownable debut", which is quite a contrast to my previous week's book.

For my birthday I got some money from my parents, they knew I wanted to get a watch, but rather than buying it for me, they thought to give me money so I can choose whatever I want. They wanted me to get something expensive, but I ended up buying something that's reasonably priced and that I like very much.
I've been looking at various watches, browsing Pinterest since the New Year, but I always ended up
at Olivia Burton. I still struggled to select one of them, if only I could get one in each colour... I eventually opted for Big Dial Chrono in Black & Gold. It's an elegant, beautiful watch, even if I say so myself.

Tim Minchin- Not Perfect
Do forgive me if I have already mentioned this song but it's incredible. While Tim songs are usually funny, sarcastic and are usually about quite controversial issues, not perfect is quite different. It's beautiful and can make you tear up. It makes you reflect on and appreciate your life.

I spent most of Sunday reading BBC news and r/worldnews. A complicated situation in Ukraine has escalated so quickly. I've been reading so much about it, it probably made me feel worse for it. The speculations whether NATO would protect Baltic states or would they be willing to sacrifice them. Putin using ridiculous pretenses to invade a sovereign country and similarities to the situation we had before World War II. It's scary and surreal. How can this be happening?
I wish Ukraine strength, I know Lithuania is supporting you very strongly as well as many other countries. I hope there will be further sanctions against Russia and this matter will be resolved without casualties.

I recently come across this article: The 50 Things You Must Realize Once You’re Employed And Entering The Real World.
I selected some of my favorites from this list:
I selected some of my favorites from this list:
- Other than work, there’s little time for anything else.
- Your jobless friends are somehow too busy to free up their schedules to match yours
- Tired is the new black.
- It seems like there’s no time to exercise — and if there were, you’d be too tired anyway.
- Eating healthy becomes super important since you no longer exercise as much.
- Eating healthy requires too much planning, so you don’t eat healthy.
- It’s very hard to avoid someone in the workplace.
- Social circles apparently aren’t only for high school.
- If you don’t love your job then you either hate it or will hate it in the future.
- You can’t force yourself to enjoy things you aren’t naturally inclined to enjoy. The more you work, the more you want to let off steam.
- It’s not always easy to separate your personal life from your professional one.
And yes I'm tired whilst writing this post. I was in London today for a training session and will be going to London tomorrow to conduct interviews, thus a particularly early start. Never mind, I took Friday off so I have a long weekend to recover.

This week I'm reading How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I have read it before, but I felt like I need to read it again. It is one of the first best-selling self-help books ever published. A lot of the information is quite obvious and basic but it's important and yet often ignored. The examples and the message is profound with very realistic examples and full of easy to apply techniques. I think this book is a must read and it will continue to be timeless book. It's one of those books that you need to come back and read and read it again.
