The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
“I said that I wasn’t clever. I was just noticing how things were, and that wasn’t clever. That was just being observant. Being clever was when you looked at how things were and used the evidence to work out something new. Like the universe expanding, or who committed a murder. Or if you see someone’s name and you give each letter a value from 1 to 26 (a = 1, b =2, etc.) and you add the numbers up in your head and you find that it makes a prime number, like Jesus Christ (151), or Scooby-Doo (113), or Sherlock Holmes (163), or Doctor Watson (167).
I read this some years ago when I was still in secondary school and I remember loving it. When I saw it on sale during my last visit to a local boot fair, I bought it without hesitation. It only cost me 20p. I like to reread good books, especially when I read it in Lithuanian originally. It's different experience when you read it in English.
It's about Christopher, a fifteen-year-old with Asperger's Syndrome or high-functioning autism and a talent for maths, who writes a book, this book, about his investigations of the murder of a neighbour's dog. He loves Sherlock Holmes and is amazingly observant of tiny details, but his lack of insight into other people's emotional lives hampers his investigation.

I enjoyed Christopher's observations about life and the way in which he sees it. It can be funny, particularly when Christopher misunderstands situations. Despite his very different thinking and view of the world, I found it easy to relate to him.

I bought a mirror. It's hard to tell , but it is rather big and I struggled to carry it from the shop to my flat, which is not far at all. I absolutely love it, good value for money and I finally can use my fairy lights.

A small,French, kitsch bag from Claire's. I will be using to store all the cables and chargers that usually tangle in my work bag.
A sleep mask, also from Claire's. I find sleeping with it much easier, not just for darkness, but the pressure on the eyes somehow helps it too.
I bought this week planner to plan my posts and also because it's so pretty.

Bought some sticky notes at Paperchase. I absolutely love Paperchase. I could buy half of their stock just because it's so pretty.

Me and Marta fancied to do something different this Saturday. I wanted to get away from Eastbourne, we decided to go to Lewes. It's only 20min on a train. We started off with a walk at Southover Grange Gardens. Very peaceful and beautiful place.
After taking photos, we got a cuppa and a snack and sat down on the freshly cut grass and enjoyed unusually warm weather.
We also went to a small local artists' shop.
After a bit of shopping, we stopped again to have freshly squeezed orange juice. Yum.
We might sound crazy, but we stopped again at a small coffee shop and had a milkshake. It was a long day after all. And there are so many tiny, cosy coffee shops around Lewes, it will take us years to try them all.

We've been having wonderfully warm September, 24 degrees for a few days. Fantastic. After hard week, we went for a walk along the seafront. We do live in a beautiful place.
All taken with my Lumia 930.

Some years ago, I registered on postcrossing website and I loved it. Coming home to find another card from a far away place in the world from a random stranger. Something about it excites me. I recently reactivated my account and posted my first postcards. While I wait for my postcards, I will share with you some postcards I received when I was on postcrossing first time round.
Do sign up if that sounds like something you might enjoy it.It's free to use, though stamps used to be much cheaper in my days...

My Sunday morning started very early. I got up before 6 o'clock to go to boot fair. This is the first time I went to sell rather than to buy things. I'm not going to lie, I hate getting up, especially because it's only a weekend when I can sleep in thanks to a full time job, however it was quite fun day. I didn't only sell things, as you can imagine...
1.John Lennon- The Collection
2.John Lennon- Rock'N'Roll
3.Managing for Dummies
4.The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
5. A Year in the Merde
6. Rosetta Stone- Spanish, Level 1-3.
Total money spent: £6.90. Quite a bargain, I'd say. I'm especially happy with getting Rosetta Stone. When I was little a had a similar program for English and it helped me immensely, I hope Rosetta will help with my Spanish.
We're going next Sunday as well. It would be nice to get rid of some of the stuff that we have managed to acquire living in this flat for 5 years. It will be easier to move.

I do like to share my observations about life in UK, since I often go to Germany I thought I'd share some of my observations
- Germans do not queue. I know most of European countries are like that, but Germans as well? It took me by surprise, perfect queuing would go so well with other characteristics of a stereotypical German.
- They love their meat and they don't seem to label vegetarian food. It would be hard for me to live there.
- Germans don’t jay-walk. Ever.
- they have one of the highest recycling rates.
- It does help that for all the plastic bottles you have to pay a deposit upfront which you get then you return it to the shop. It's not uncommon to see people collecting the bottles from the bins and public spaces.
- They love their bank holidays and they take them seriously. Pretty much everything is closed unlike in UK or Lithuania. Couple this with Sundays when everything is closed, you could be without food for days.
- They enjoy their shows and films dubbed. Imagine never hearing real voice of Benedict Cumberbatch. I prefer the Scandinavian way of subtitling all the foreign films.
- No one does a compound word like the Germans

I spent a lovely week in Germany with my family- too bad the weather wasn't particularly nice and I also caught a cold- how unfortunate!
Since the weather was rubbish, cloudy and rainy most days, The autumn has come too early. You shouldn't have to put heating on in August! But I disgress...
We went to the indoor swimming pool with my parents and my cousins, it was actually quite fun but a few hours and I'm done.
The next day we went to Koln or Cologne as it's known in English speaking world. The weather was not particularly nice, again.

It was raining throughout so we didn't do any of sightseeing so we went to the shops instead. My mum bought a few things that she loves but I didn't see anything to my liking.
We were lucky enough to have nice afternoon for our trip to Solingen. We mainly went to see the castle. It was rather interesting, I only been inside one other castle, Cardiff Castle. It was quite interesting as you could go around the castle without going back and forth. There were narrows staircases that made me feel a bit claustrophobic.
After a tour of the castle, we walked around to see what else is there. There were many beautiful houses like in the below pictures.

Beautiful. There were many restaurants/waffle houses with beautiful views of the town and surroundings but they all closed at 6pm, we only managed to get some coffee in one the places. I would love to come back there when they're open.
I'm going again in Christmas, I hope to see Dusseldorf all decorated for Christmas.
