Scattered Strawberry Summer: summer

Life Lately

That first cup of tea in a morning is divine. Sometimes a necessity.

People keep asking me about my wedding planning, but I haven't got much to tell. I haven't decided yet on a date or location. I can tell you where I won't be getting married- Barcelona. Yes, it was a bit of pink fluffy dream of mine to get married in Barcelona, city we both love so much, but unfortunately after some research I found out we wouldn't be able to have a civil ceremony there and I don't want to get married in a church either (I'm an atheist), so it's back to the drawing board.

We are however planning to go to Barcelona this summer. My friend's friend works in a very nice hotel there and I was able to get a discount. I really cannot wait! I really miss the beach, the great architecture, old town and Montjuic.

A day in Brighton

brighton

We were tired of sunbathing and the beach so we decided to spend a day in Brighton. The weather was still (mostly) very nice but not as hot as previous days.

It might have been a weekday but there were many people around.

We browsed huge vintage shop. We hardly ever buy anything but it's nice to browse and look at all the pretty things. Once we have a new place, we will surely come here for home decor stuff.

We went to the pier, it was so windy, but Brighton always seem to be much windier than Eastbourne. It was still hot but the dark clouds were coming.

We went to eat at our usual place- The Lanes. Normally I'd recommend it to everyone because it's nice food and very cheap ( £4.5 for buffet) but it seems they changed everything. They used to have very nice thin crust pizzas (mostly vegetarian) and a selection of salad, now they all taste different and not as nice and they increased the prices. I doubt we will come back!

It started pouring rain, that kind of rain that you only get in the summer. But as expected it stopped as quickly as it started.

After disappointing lunch we went to the shops, supposedly the sales have started but nothing interesting in the sale racks, I bought a few things that I', very happy with. I'll take pictures and post it next time.

Summer work outfit ideas

ideas

Summer is here, the office fights about air con have started and I'm thinking what to wear on warmer days, most of my work outfits are rather dark,I'd like something more summery and appropriate to the weather we're having.

I turned to pinterest for inspiration

Time for shopping, I will browse ebay first, I don't feel like going shopping

Summer arrived to England, no kidding

snapshot

Summer has officially started, folks! I woke up on Saturday to the sound of thunderstorm. I thought the day has been ruined but,no, it was perfectly nice day. I met up with Marta, we had lunch at the Kiosk, right at the foot of South Downs. There is a path to the side of the kiosk which leads to the downs and is much more manageable than the main path. We chilled out in the sun for ages looking at beautiful views.

But what's a sunny day without ice cream? We went to Fusciardi's for some proper Italian Ice Cream. It was good but I probably should have chosen different flavours, I got overwhelmed with so many choices!..

Today I got much later than usual, it seems I lost the ability to sleep in long time ago. I guess around the time I started working full time. I didn't realise it was actually very warm outside until I checked our thermometer, I didn't expect to see 25c when it's not even noon yet! Good weather and on a weekend is rare here so I treasure it. I went to a beach to sunbathe for a couple hours before we were due for a social engagement. The sun was lovely but I wasn't prepare to open the swimming season just yet.

Summer is here

snapshots

The other day me and my work friends went S. house because her parents were away and because she has a huge house and garden. It was kind of Mexican food night with mojitos and Pimms.

It was a lovely and warm evening. We've been having such a nice weather the past couple of weeks. British call it heatwave, I call it summer.

All right, kids, I gotta get to work. If I don't input those numbers... it doesn't make much of a difference.

job

I guess summer is finally here, too bad it was one week late for me to enjoy whilst I was off from work. I had a decent weekend though. I spent my Saturday on the seafront with a friend. It was a fun day that we finished with mojitos. Sunday was an interesting day, I had to take pictures for my company's event ( I don't get paid for it though). It was quite fun, I met a local MP and mayor. I swear I will shoot in raw from now on, I loved the results.

Coming back to work after a holiday is not easy, Monday was OK but today it was pretty awful, I'm exhausted. There is so much backlog and too much drama in the office. My manager is off for a while, so that makes things even worse.

I didn't get into graduate scheme, I reached the final stage but didn't get through it. It's very disappointing,I spent so much time for this, it was a very long process, but it wasn't my dream job or anything so I guess it's not that bad. So I'm looking out for job adverts again, nothing interesting or relevant comes up. I could easily get similar job to what I'm doing now, but I'm looking for something degree related or graduate level, I'm tired of being under-employed. I'd probably could get a lot better job back home (connections +experience working abroad) but pay would be poor and quality of life significantly lower, I couldn't afford holidays or anything like that. Besides, I don't want to come back. Ever. If I ever move from UK, I'll move to a country with better weather, I'm quite satisfied with my life here, there are only two downsides: weather ,as I already said, and lack of job opportunities.

I'm thinking of going to Germany to visit my family, but this time I'd like to take my SO with me, would be much more fun.

Melones, melones

alcudia

I'm back from my sun, sand & sea holiday in Mallorca!! I'm happy to be back but I'll miss that beach. I've tanned. A lot. A local shopkeeper thought I was Italian, can't blame him. But let me start at the beginning.

We took a very early flight to get there, I've booked a transfer bus to get us to the hotel, it was good value for money I think.

We left our things in the hotel, changed and went straight to the beach which was only a short walk away. The water was lovely and the sand was hot, what else do you want? sun I guess, but

it disappeared behind clouds so we left the beach and had a nap which was quite needed,we got up at 4am that day. Our hotel was quite...something. It is very much British orientated (well, most of Puerto de Alcudia is).You can buy British newspapers, radio station played during the day was also British, entertainment was for British taste too, even some staff were British. You wouldn't know you weren't in UK if not the nice weather! Not surprisingly, most of the guests were British, we spotted people of other nationalities too, but only during meal times, only the British seem never leave hotel and just sunbathe by the pool even though the beach was 5 min walk away.

I could only squeeze in the picture half of the hotel, it's rather big. Most guests come with their families, including grandparents. There were so many children. The annoying, noisy, little buggers. It seems there is always at least one child crying, screaming or generally being a nuisance. It was quite tiresome, now I get why some of the hotels are adults only- to escape all the bloody noise.

We didn't stay much in the hotel though, except the day it was really bad weather- 20c and cloudy!! :) We had sangria, mojitos, it was quite lovely but boring, not much to do. Hotel did provide evening entertainment, so we went to see The Beatles tribute, it was very enjoyable, although sometimes the singers missed a note but it still was rather good. I was surprised how similar their voices were to the actual Beatles, especially Ringo's. That was the only evening entertainment that we went to see, others were not something we would enjoy.

My camera's screen is a bit darker than the actual picture, so it leads to overexposed pictures like this one, I swear it looked perfectly fine on the screen.

The view from our balcony.

To be continued...

Think it through next time.

bafta

everyone around me: hey Eurovision on Saturday
Me: meh...though BAFTA TV awards on Sunday!!! yes,I'm very excited about this. you know what they say, fourth time's a charm! :) good luck, Benny.

Went to see Avengers the other day, not really impressed, I expected it to be more enjoyable, considering all the positive posts about the film online. The Dictator was so much more fun, I'll buy a DVD when it comes out.

Finished my first week at my new job. So far so good. I am the only foreigner, which I find a bit weird since I haven't been in situation like that before, at uni and other jobs, at least half of the people were foreigners. Well, now I have chance to improve my English and my accent! :)

It's weekend and weather is still nice so I went to the beach for a few hours and afterwards we went to do my BF's uni assignment- to make a video for his song. It was so much fun!

I think I'll do more filming, I rather liked it.

indian

I can't believe we're having such a lovely weather at this time of the year. Most of the summer wasn't as good as these past few days. I went to the beach, found a quiet spot and just enjoyed the sunshine and swimming in warm calm sea. Even evening is quite warm and it feels like summer evening. Absolutely amazing.Best Indian summer ever ;)
