Office Space
I decided to post about this film as it seems nobody I ever mention it to have ever heard about it and that it is real shame. It's one of my favourite films, I rewatch it every few months.
Favourite Quotes:
Peter Gibbons: So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.
Dr. Swanson: What about today? Is today the worst day of your life?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Dr. Swanson: Wow, that's messed up.
Bob Porter: Looks like you've been missing a lot of work lately.
Peter Gibbons: I wouldn't say I've been *missing* it, Bob.
Bob Porter: We're gonna be getting rid of these people here... First, Mr. Samir Naga... Naga... Naga... Not gonna work here anymore, anyway.
Bill Lumbergh: Hello Peter, whats happening? Ummm, I'm gonna need you to go ahead come in tomorrow. So if you could be here around 9 that would be great, mmmk... oh oh! and I almost forgot ahh, I'm also gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Sunday too, kay. We ahh lost some people this week and ah, we sorta need to play catch up.
Michael Bolton: Peter, you're in deep shit. You were supposed to come in on Saturday. What were you doing?
Peter Gibbons: Michael, I did nothing. I did absolutely nothing, and it was everything that I thought it could be.

Office Space is a 1999 American comedy film written and directed by Mike Judge. Satirizing work life in a typical mid-to-late-1990s software company, it focuses on a handful of individuals fed up with their jobs and stars Ron Livingston, Jennifer Aniston, Gary Cole, David Herman, Ajay Naidu, and Diedrich Bader. source
Office Space is a great satire of the office culture that echos the absurdities of the world we live in. It's an older film and I'm not usually into old films, but this is a must see. I work in an office and it's startling how true this film is.It isn't essential to have worked in an office to enjoy this film, but based on my experience you perceive it rather differently before & after having worked in the office. It was a tad funnier before it became my life. Lets not fool ourselves, modern 9-5 work is rather dreadful and this probably explains why it resonates with people who have suffered bureaucratic bullshit and arbitrary rules at some point in their working lives.
My favourite bits: Bill Lumbergh, the soundtrack and the printer scene.

Summer is here, the office fights about air con have started and I'm thinking what to wear on warmer days, most of my work outfits are rather dark,I'd like something more summery and appropriate to the weather we're having.

I'm in a much better mood today, I've crossed many items from my to do list at work today and I don't have any backlog from last week when I was away.
I like my today's work outfit. All grown up and all.
I would love to do more outfit pictures but I haven't got a decent spot in my flat for those kind of pictures.

I recently come across this article: The 50 Things You Must Realize Once You’re Employed And Entering The Real World.
I selected some of my favorites from this list:
I selected some of my favorites from this list:
- Other than work, there’s little time for anything else.
- Your jobless friends are somehow too busy to free up their schedules to match yours
- Tired is the new black.
- It seems like there’s no time to exercise — and if there were, you’d be too tired anyway.
- Eating healthy becomes super important since you no longer exercise as much.
- Eating healthy requires too much planning, so you don’t eat healthy.
- It’s very hard to avoid someone in the workplace.
- Social circles apparently aren’t only for high school.
- If you don’t love your job then you either hate it or will hate it in the future.
- You can’t force yourself to enjoy things you aren’t naturally inclined to enjoy. The more you work, the more you want to let off steam.
- It’s not always easy to separate your personal life from your professional one.
And yes I'm tired whilst writing this post. I was in London today for a training session and will be going to London tomorrow to conduct interviews, thus a particularly early start. Never mind, I took Friday off so I have a long weekend to recover.

I've booked tickets to Lithuania- woop woop! I haven't been there for almost two years, we're planning to visit our grandparents and that's pretty much it. I think all my friends and former classmates in the capital now and we're not planning to go there, there won't be time. It will be interesting to see my hometown, where I spent my first 19 years and there I met my SO.
I haven't got any summer holidays booked. I'm not sure if I will. We're going to Spain in May for a wedding, short trip but it will be expensive. I wouldn't be fussed by not going away somewhere warm, if summers here wouldn't suck so bad... What's the point living by a seaside if the weather is hardly ever good enough for a nice swim in the sea?..
But also I think I will really need a good holiday this year. It's been very stressful at work, my new role is not easy but it's not only that, there are changes in the company and there's been resistance to these changes. On more positive note, my old manager has come back to the company in a different role, she is my all time favourite manager and I can't wait to see her.

My second week in my new job is finished (hail flexi time). I've been rather busy, a bit stressed, very happy about the new role sitll.
I'm getting used to this role but I think it will take longer for other to get used to the fact I am now their line manager.
Next few weeks won't be any less busy. I will spend some time in London again, I will attend leadership training , which I am very looking forward to, not only because I will be staying in a nice hotel in Covent Garden... I'm also going to middle management conference in Preston, not very exiting location but hey...business trip
I don't have any plans for my long weekend, I like it that way. Just do whatever I feel like doing without a care in a world.

Just one day to go and I'm off! When I'm back, I have quite a few things to do, I will go to London a couple times for meetings and training, I was asked to take pictures again, possibly all day, not sure, haven't been given much information on it.Also, I was put forward by my manager to get involved in a project which might be quite interesting, not sure yet what exactly it entails. Lots of things happening at work, changes ahead, some positive, some less so, we'll just wait and see how it will affect us.
Bonus: totally irrelevant funny picture:

Good things happening. Firstly, for the first time since I moved to UK, we are having proper summer weather. It's been very nice even though it's too hot to sleep comfortably. Hardly any houses have air con here. We're quite lucky to have it in our office.
Secondly, I got a another nomination at work. A whole team was nominated for helping out to do company event. I helped setting things up and took pictures whole day. I think it's nice to receive some recognition. Technically, it's third time I've been nominated this year. Great! Though I only got two rewards because they merged my first two nominations. It's OK though, I got now an extra day off.
Thirdly, my manager is finally back from leave, I'm so glad she did, it's been very hard without her, atmosphere in the office has been at its lowest, but now she's back, things will change.

My efforts have been finally recognised, I've been nominated for an award at work, all the nominees get a voucher or half a day off and are invited to annual award ceremony. I don;t really care about that, I'm just glad my hard work is appreciated. I had my annual appraisal too, it was very very positive, which makes me happy. Management are thinking of creating a new position , I am already doing the job but I have to do various additional stuff too, if they would actually create this position, I could focus solely on this business area. However, if it will ever happen, it's not going to be very soon. My manager also thinks that in future I could be promoted to this other position but I have absolutely no interest in it, it would be a lot more money but I'd hate that job and I don't think it is suitable for a young girl as it includes dealing with some very difficult people and sometimes visiting them at their home. Thanks but no thanks!
Today somebody proposed to me. No, not my SO. But an elderly customer popped the question when I passed reception to grab a folder I needed. It's the second the time he did that. Yep, fun times at work.
I think I have Chandler Bing's problem - people think I'm being sarcastic when I'm not. I need to get a sarcasm sign to make it clear.

so I've got plenty of books to prepare for my graduate job hunt. I've started doing practice psychometric tests. Fun fun fun. Should perfect my CV, maybe Sunday. Anyway, I was looking for any graduate jobs in tourism/travel and there seem to be none. TUI has got some interesting schemes, especially "international management" but I'm not sure I'm cut out for that. Not sure if it is something I want to do. I'm not sure about anything regarding my near future at the moment. Maybe, I'll just get friday-add and look for some temp job in the tourism industry, just to get relevant experience.
It was scary when I left school, but now it is totally different. Less certainty about what I want to do.
